Exploring thematic possibilities outside of my traditional aesthetic and allowing myself to embrace the inspiration that comes from that.

Other than having the opportunity to have my work viewed publicly, alongside that of other amazing artists, the most exciting aspect of participating in group art shows is the opportunity to explore themes that might not necessarily come up in my more typical work. Although themes from popular culture are certainly some of the main ingredients in all of my creative output, having the chance to contribute to an “Advertising Icons” or “Video Game Character”-themed group show allows me to be a bit more literal and often more light hearted in my contributions. There’s also often an opportunity to flex some stylistic muscles that don’t see much action in the rest of my output.

Ultimately, going through the process of merging my established aesthetic with a pre-determined theme always results in a creative experience that is not only a lot of fun, but also one which instills a deeper understanding of my creative identity.
