Bridging the gap between the abstract minimalism of Mid Century object design and the nostalgic warmth of vintage action figures.

Parallel with finding my aesthetic “voice”over the years has been the gradual development of a sculptural style which not only yields the clean aesthetic results that I’m looking for, but maintains a sense of “soul” in each piece. In theory, it’s quite simple- hand sculpt the general shape of a piece in two part, self curing compound, and then sand and cut away at the sculpt, until it fully reveals itself. Long, repeated sessions of rhythmic sanding in incrementally finer grit lends itself to producing shapes that appear symmetrical and clean, yet maintain an organic handmade essence.

The ultimate goal is that thin area of perceptual overlap between something that nearly looks perfect, but also bears the charm of a work created by human hands.
