The Void Ghosts vs. Incendizcer-1

Lord Regent. Lord Regent of Alpha Primaris. That's the title that they had given him. The ashes and shattered crystal crunched under his massive steel boots as Incendizcer-1 walked among the wreckage of Capital City. He watched as crews scurried about, cleaning up the shattered bits of buildings and quickly erecting new ones. Message after message after message of reconstruction status reports bleeped through his left eye's internal communications display.

He had never asked for this.

Having been a celebrated leader in the ancient Great War, his arrival at Alpha Primaris for support resulted in a great boost in morale for the forces of order. And he found himself quickly moved up the ranks until he was eventually placed in strategic command of the entire military operation. For the past countless centuries, he had been a humble hermit- meditating, traveling the stars, and scrying the threads of destiny. He had seen this event coming. But his role within it  had somehow been hidden from him. As if there had been some sort of interdimensional temporal disturbance which had prevented him from seeing the period of time in which he currently stood.

But Incindizcer-1 had learned, over the millennia, that the true measure of an individual is shown when a great responsibility is thrust upon them. And now, the return to functionality of this key focal point of the universe was now ultimately his responsibility.

The steady flow of messages to him became more and more intermittent. And he was aware of static. Ghastly static and a sense of irrational dread. Something was happening. Something was very wrong.

Incendizcer-1 looked skyward as a swirling rift began to tear apart reality in the skies above Alpha Primaris...

Space Fortress Cerberus was nearing the completion of it reconstruction. With the battle for Alpha Primaris intensifying, a new directive had been sent down by Lord Gorgax, himself- upgrade the Wraithdroid legions and battalions using whatever arcane means imaginable. The Space Wizard known as Raziel the Infinite had overseen the initial experiments with manipulating the undead automaton brutes to varying success. Some divisions had mutated into twisted monstrosities, possessed by entities from The Omega, itself. Others shut down completely as a result of exposure to dark magicks. But the Void Ghost Wraithdroids, named such for their cool demeanor and stealthy yet lethal style of combat, had taken to the modifications surprisingly well. The results of the transformation of The Void Ghosts had proven so promising that the order had been delivered for Raziel to summon a portal and teleport the entire legion, led by the Cyborg Space Barbarian Nekrodemus, directly to the battlefront on Alpha Primaris.

It had been intended to be a simple warp jump. They had been stationed upon a lava moon, just outside of the Rubicon Void. It wasn't even that great of a distance. The Space Wizard, Raziel the Infinite had created a swirling portal and the Cyborg Space Barbarian Nekrodemus was to lead a battalion of Wraithdroids through it, re-emerging at a strategic communications tower upon the planet of Alpha Primaris.

He had been extremely proud to have been chosen for such a task. The thought that Gorgax, himself, had chosen him to lead this force for such a strategically crucial strike showed Nekrodemus that he was held in extremely high regard among the ranks of his Cyborg Space Barbarian peers.

Upon entering the portal, Nekrodemus became aware of an opposing force. A giant being of pure energy with a glowing central "eye". They were sent hurtling backwards. Through time. Through alternate dimensions.

They emerged upon a planet of bone under an undulating green sky. Time extended like a rubber band. They fought undead creatures for survival upon the ghastly planet, eventually conquering it. But it had taken time. Maybe centuries. And it had changed them. They had taken on a livery that was fitting for this twisted planet of ghosts which they had made their own.

And then the portals began appearing.

Nekrodemus recognized the energy signal as the same sort of portal from which they had arrived. So, he lead his legion of "Void Ghosts" through it. But they materialized on yet another alien world. This happened century after century. A new portal would open, and they would enter it, only to be delivered to another twisted world which they would systematically conquer. A madness crept over Nekrodemus. He had become death incarnate, and the Void Ghost legion had become his scythe. World after mutated world, century after grueling century, they arrived from a swirling portal and obliterated all that stood before them.

Then one day, a portal opened once again, revealing the shattered surface of Alpha Primaris...
